Read More	Dayton Review August 29, 1895 OBITUARY DIED - At her father's home in Grant township, Boone county, August 20, 1895, Selma Augusta Seashore, aged 25 years, 11 months, 11 days. She was born in Boone county, Iowa, September 9, 1869. She got her first education in the country schools where she was always at the head of her classes. At the age of 17 she entered Gustavus Adolphus College, attending three terms. Her time since she left school has been employed in teaching Swedish and English schools. She was a prominent member of the Lutheran church were she took great interest in the work of Sunday School and Young People's Society. Her heart ached with longing to enlighten and elevate the minds of the young. She was loved by all with whom she came in contact for her kindly disposition to do good and help everybody. She has always been ambitious to attain good results. She will be held in loving rembembrance by her pupils and friends, and the impressions that she has made will certainly remain with many. Her life was short but earnest, and when her mission was ended she was ready and willing to go to the better land when she saw Jesus coming to meet her. Her prayers on her sick bed for herself, parents, brothers, sister and the church were most fervent and never to be forgotten. Although unconscious during the last days her death was peaceful. The funeral took place from the Dayton Lutheran church, Revs. Stark and Christenson preaching the sermons. A very large number of friends and acquaintances were in attendance to pay their last respects to the dead and to express their sympathy for the bereaved family. She leaves to mourn her parents, three brothers, one sister and hosts of dear friends. RESOLUTIONS OF CONDOLENCE We, as a Lutheran Young People's Society, do adopt the following resolutions. Resolved: That although God, in his wisdom, has called from our midst our beloved friend and sister, Miss Selma Augusta Seashore, to the heavenly realms, from all earthly sorrows and cares in the best years of her womanhood, we, as a Lutheran Y.P.S., of which the deceased was a member, do hereby extend our most heartfelt sympathy to the sorrowing family in this, their great bereavement. Resolved: That these resolutions be given to the family and a copy thereof be printed in the Dayton Review, Augustana and Svithiod Committee. IN MEMORIAM. MISS SELMA SEASHORE Died August 20, 1895 Gone from us all! Passed out of sight and hearing, Slipped peacefully away No more to come again, No more as was her wont, Blithe, genial and cheering, To be now here, now there, In hannts of fellow men. Gone from us all! From friends distressed and weeping, From dear ones who until Death beckoned her away, Because of strongest love, Held her in tenderest keeping, And now must miss her more than faltering tongues can say. Gone from the earth! Earth's joys so sweet but fleeting, Its sorrows manifold, Each bitter in its kind, No more shall thrill the heart That now has ceased its beating. Nor vex with restless thoughts Her deathless soul and mind. Gone from the earth! Faith banished every feeling Of awe and led the way To heavenly lands sublime. Her spirit gently crossed The mystic river stealing So solemnly along The peopled shore of time. Gone to her home! Forever to be residing Where saints the praise of God Eternally proclaim. To be in holy peace Near Christ, the Lord, abiding, Who know and loved her best And called her by her name Gone to her home! there all things good combining Make life perfection, since No evils e'er betide. Forgot are all the hours Of struggling and repining, And there her ransomed soul At last is satisfied. Gone to our home! There's one thing more attracting Our weary, wandering stops, And lifted, wistful eyes. Another sainted friend, We think, is now enacting A watching, waiting part Beyond the starry skies. Gone to our home! Dear Lord, keep us from straying From thee and from the right Whatever may occur; Then we may truthfully And trustingly be saying, "She comes not back to us, But we shall go to her." - Selma Callerstrom.
