Lemon, at Maryville, Mo., Friday, July 22, 1910. They returned to Villisca Saturday and will live in the residence belonging to Mrs. Lemon, in the northwest part of town. Walker, for many years a resident of Villisca, had died in a Denver hospital at about four o'clock that day. The telegram was received by Mrs. L.A. Wertman of this city and was sent by one John L. Biltgen. To relatives and friends in Villisca there is a shadow of mystery regarding the death of Mrs. Walker. One day in late summer she left Villisca for Denver without making known to her friends or neighbors how long she would be gone or the purpose of her mission. But that attracted very little attention as she last year made a trip to the California Exposition and it was supposed that she had doubtless decided to take another trip to a refreshing clime. After she left Villisca, it is said that she returned and made disposal of part of her possessions in this city. Some time later it was reported that she was married to a party while at Denver. That report this paper has been unable to verify. However, according to the records in the court house at Red Oak certain real estate owned in and near Villisca by Mrs. Walker has been deeded to the above mentioned John L. Biltgen. The telegram was so brief and the fact that burial was made at Denver have also caused some to suspicion, although nothing but natural death has been found out. The telegram addressed to Mrs. Wertman said Sophia passed away at 4 p.m. at Park Avenue Hospital. Chronic heart disease. Requests burial Denver. The telegram was signed by John L. Biltgen. After receiving the message Mrs. Wertman telegraphed Mrs. Walker's sisters-in-law, Mesdames. Henry Robinson and George Robinson at Odebolt, Iowa. A reply from Mrs. Henry Robinson stated that she was leaving October 6 for Denver. Nothing has been heard from her since she left for the Colorado city. Little of good or bad repute concerning the man Biltgen is known in this community. During the past year he worked as supply man at the telegraph office when the men on regular wished to take a vacation. He is said to have come to Villisca from some point west and worked here last during the summer, just before Mrs. Walker left Villisca. Why Mrs. Walker deeded her property to the man is only one of the things that are mysterious to Villisca people. Sophia Robinson was born at Franklin Grove, Illinois, and was about seventy-two years of age. She had spent many years of her life in Villisca. ODEBOLT CHRONICLE - October 12, 1916 Thursday Page 5 column 1: Mrs H C Robinson and Mrs Wilbur Perry left Friday afternoon for Denver to attend the funeral of the formers sister, Mrs Sophia Walker of that city. Mrs Walker was 71 years of age at the time of her death. Page 5 column 5 - Mrs. Janette Robinson and daughter, Mrs. Wilbur Perry, and the latter's daughter, Evelyn, left Friday afternoon for Denver, Colo., called there by the death of Mrs. Sophia Walker, a sister-in-law of Mrs. Robinson, who died suddenly of heart trouble. Mrs. Walker has visited here and is known to a number of our residents.
