Read More	TAKES A DOSE OF STRYCHNINE Taylor Purcell Found Dead In A Ravine Near Woodbine Yesterday Woodbine, Iowa, April 6 --Taylor Purcell, an unmarried man, about 40 years of age, committed suicide some time during last night by taking strychnine and his body was found in a gully near the roadside about five miles west of here at 7 o'clock this morning. The dead man had numerous relatives in Harrison County and only yesterday came here from Missouri Valley with the apparent intention of visiting or working in this neighborhood. It seems that he had been in ill health for some months and recently had smallpox, which he unintentionally scattered over the entire neighborhood. Soon after arriving here last night, Purcell went to a local drug store where he bought the poison. May Reed empaneled a jury consisting of Dr. J. Giddings, C. J. Tuttle and Dennis O'Leary. The verdict arrived at was that death was caused by taking poison with suicidal intent. Published in The Daily Nonpareil (Council Bluffs, Iowa) on Thursday, April 7, 1904. FOUND DEAD Taylor Purcell was found dead on the railroad track between Logan and Woodbine early this morning. His brother, Ben Purcell, was telephoned to come to Woodbine and left on No. 4 this morning. We have been unable to learn the particulars of the death. SUICIDE AT WOODBINE Woodbine, April 7. -- Taylor Purcell, aged 40 and unmarried, committed suicide by taking strychnine yesterday. Ill health was the cause. TAYLOR PURCELL Taylor Purcell, who resided near Woodbine, was found dead on the John Danforth place northwest of Woodbine Wednesday. It is supposed that he committed suicide by taking poison on account of an imaginary smallpox scare, which has been affecting his mind.
