Description	:	Velma Bronemann age 91, of Monticello, died Tuesday evening, January 5, 2010 at the Monticello Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held Saturday morning, January 9, 2010 at the Wayne Zion Lutheran Church rural Monticello with interment in the Oakwood Cemetery. Friends may call after 9:00 Saturday at the church. Rev. Johnathan Kosec will officiate at the services. Goettsch Funeral Home is caring for Velma and her family. Ronald (Char) Bronemann, Jerry Bronemann, 8 Grandchildren and 8 great-Grandchildren and brother Donald (Helen)Tobiason. She was preceded in death by her Parents, her husband Roland, a grandson Bryan, a brother Lyle Tobiason and a sister Lois Porter. Velma Sophia Johnette Tobiason was born June 14, 1918. She was the daughter of Hayo and Dora Stahlberg, Tobiason. Velma received her early education in the rural schools of Wayne Township. She later worked as a teacher in the rural schools near Scotch Grove. Velma Tobiason and Roland S. Bronemann were married May 29, 1939 at the Wayne Zion Lutheran Church. The couple farmed in Wayne Township until they moved from the farm in 1968. In 1962 Velma revived her teaching career. She worked as an elementary education teacher in the Anamosa, Monticello and Midland Community Schools. Velma was a life long member of Wayne Zion Lutheran Church where she was baptized on July 18, 1918 and confirmed her faith on March 20,1932. She had been a church organist and Sunday School teacher as well. Velma served as a 4 H Leader and also as a volunteer at Camp Courageous. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
