Read More	Warren Lee Bruggeman, 77 September 9, 1939 - January 1, 2017 U.S. Veteran Warren was born September 9, 1939 in Templeton, Iowa to Harry and Clara (Raygor) Bruggeman. He was the second of six children and spent his childhood in Templeton. While growing up in this small Iowa town Warren spent his days antagonizing his younger sisters, getting hit on the head, often, and participating in raucous boyhood antics. When he became older, Warren was a very hard worker. In the summers he would help farmers on the farm, baling hay and de-tasseling corn. Warren’s father was a groundskeeper, who maintained the church, school, rectory, convent and cemetery properties in Templeton. Warren would help his dad shovel snow, mow lawns and dig graves. In high school Warren participated and lettered in both basketball and baseball. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corp before graduation from Templeton’s Sacred Heart High School. in 1957, . immediately after graduation, he was off to San Diego for Marine Boot Camp. He completed his boot camp training and served in the Marines for the next three years, stationed on board the USS Bonn Homme Richard aircraft carrier sailing in the Pacific. Upon returning from the Marines in 1960, he met his future wife Dianne Roe, his sister Muriel’s best friend, and as a result ended up staying in Omaha, Nebraska. Warren and Dianne married on June 2, 1962 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Omaha, Nebraska. The newlywed couple settled in Omaha where they welcomed two sons (David and Steve). In the summer of 1965 they moved to LaVista, Nebraska, a small suburb of Omaha, where they welcomed their daughter (Lisa). Warren was a long-time resident of LaVista and saw the community grow and thrive. He and Dianne lived in the same house for fifty years. During this time he worked as a warehouse-man at Crown Cork and Seal, retiring in 2002 after 32 years with the company. After his retirement Warren cherished taking part in his children and grandchildren’s lives. He spent many weekends traveling to many sports events with his grandchildren. Warren relished every opportunity to spend time with his family; taking trips to Arizona, participating in football parties, card parties, exploring new wineries and taverns, eating out and even the occasional trip to the casino. In his free time he enjoyed playing Texas Hold’m and Keno while working on an extensive stamp and coin collection. He also took over the family genealogy research from his mother, spending many hours exploring the Bruggeman family lineage. In 2015 Warren moved into an independent living community for seniors called Hillcrest Estates. While living there he met many new friends and was an active participant in a variety of daily activities. Warren was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and brother Jerry Bruggeman. Warren passed away Sunday, January 1, 2017 while at the Hillcrest Cottages in Papillion, Nebraska after a brief battle with lung cancer. Left with memories are his three children: David (Stephanie) Bruggeman, Steve Bruggeman, Lisa Bruggeman Hogle; grandchildren: Elizabeth Bruggeman, Jessica (Marc) Jergovic, Nicholas (Chelsie) Bruggeman, Nathan (Madison) Bruggeman, Kira (Dan) Patterson, Jeremy (Kayla) Bruggeman; two great-grandchildren, Emersyn and Everett Jergovic; along with his sisters Donna Rowley, Muriel (Merle) Rakes, Sherry (Wayne) Ames, Mary Jo See; sisters-in-law Connie (Tom) Lang, Cindy (Ron) Veys; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will take place at St. Columbkille Catholic Church - Papillion Friday, January 6th, beginning at 6:00 p.m. with a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. all at the church. Mass of Christian Burial Saturday, January 7th, 10:00 a.m. at St. Columbkille Catholic Church. Interment Cedar Dale Cemetery - Papillion. A luncheon will be held at the St. Columbkille Church Social Hall immediately following the interment.
