Description | : | The magnificent Horsens Klosterkirke, or Abbey Church, is located centrally on Borgergade in the medieval town. It dates from the thirteenth century and originally served an abbey of the Franciscan order. Since the Reformation it has served an Evangleical Lutheran parish. Furniture within the church dating from monastic times includes an early sixteenth century altar and monks seats. A Romanesque font was introduced to the church after the Reformation. Within the Abbey there is also a Russian Chapel, which contains the body of four Russian siblings, two Princes and two Princesses, all buried in the crypt beneath the chapel. |
