Description : This historic Black cemetery is now a park and memorial plaza. It was established in 1835 by a Methodist congregation. Five veteran U.S. Colored Troops are buried here, along with an unknown number of people who lived in the hamlet of Polktown, just across the old Chesapeake and Delaware Canal. It was replaced by nearby Green Hill Cemetery in the early 20th century and forgotten for nine decades.
