Description	:	The John Allen family was killed in the Allen Family Massacre by Indians aligned with England's Burgoyne along with John's wife, 3 children, his wife's younger sister and 3 of John's father-in-law's slaves. This act helped arouse the patriots to their cause with two victorious battles at Saratoga in September and October of 1777. The location is about .1 mile north on Allen Road from route 49.
