| Description | : | Workhouse opened in 1841 for the reception of paupers, and within two years there were 107 recorded deaths. Poverty, famine and fever hastened the deaths of many, who were buried in the vicinity, often wrapped only in linen, in unmarked graves. A site 100 meters away was used between 1862 and 1899, and is marked only with a black wooden cross and plaque beside the roadside. This site first appeared on the ordnance survey revision maps of 1889.
