Gray married Frances E. Brooks, daughter of T.J. Brooks.) In 1854 Brooks bought the West 1/2. A 1/4 of Section 15 was purchased in 1841. The two-story antebellum house of the Brooks burned in 1987. The Brooks' homeplace is now owned by the Noordermeer family, imigrants from Holland.
