Description	:	Brownell Cemetery is at the southeast corner of Section 5, Rollin Township, according to Gravestone Records of Lenawee County by Harriet Cole Bowen. Five gravestone records are listed. This old burying ground is on private property. Read More	Brownell Cemetery is at the southeast corner of Section 5, Rollin Township, according to Gravestone Records of Lenawee County by Harriet Cole Bowen. Five gravestone records are listed. This old burying ground is on private property. There is reported to be two separate burying locations on the old Brownell farm property one in the north (the wooded photo) and one in the south (land owned by the Kleins in the 1960s), according to Eunice Lamb in The John-Simon Mills Line, 1968 According to the 1857 plat map of Lenawee, the Brownell family owned the eastern half of the SE corner of Sec. 5; by 1874 the Lenawee plat map shows this area's ownership divided between R. Hathaway (north) and J. Binns (south). The placement of the map marker is approximate, yet it is within the SE corner of Section 5, Rollin Township. In 'The John-Simon Mills Line,'By Eunice M. Lamb, 1968 Section 3, page 177: (Referring to the first Friends meeting house) "The first edifice was erected in the summer of 1837 on the farm of Thos. Bronell about one mile east of the present village of Addison. A Friend's cemetery having also been established there at a very early day." Eunice Lamb's book Section 3, page 178: "A descendent of Roswell Lamb by his third wife, has reported, 'There is a small burial plot on the Hathaway farm, also there is one on a farm now owned by Raymond Klein of Addison [Klein owned the southern portion of the Brownell place on the 1960's plat books, while Hathaway owned the northern portion of the Brownell place on the 1874 plat book].' The same informant reports, 'The cemetery on the old Hathaway farm was a part of that farm at one time, as was the lot in front, which housed the first Quakers for a church. . . the so-called Hathaway burial plot is all grown up to weeds and underbrush..' THESE ABANDONED BURIAL GROUNDS ON NORTH ROLLIN HIGHWAY, just south of Addison, are not to be confused with the Rollin quaker Cemetery. . ."
