Description : Bush Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church started holding services in a brush arbor in 1862. The first permanent structure was a log cabin. When it burned, the congregation built another wooden church. Brother Martin Barnes convinced the members they should build a stone church, but he died before the church was built. The Rev. L. W. Taylor worked to have a stone church built, and so did the Rev. T. M. Dumas. In April of 1922, the new church was completed, (Ingram, pp. 255-256).
