The elder Levi deeded the homestead to his son Samuel, who in turn divided it among his two sons, Levi and Samuel Sherburne Cass, Levi with the eastern part of the house and Samuel S. with the west side. There was also a renewable bond for the care of the father during his lifetime. Samuel in 1872 deeded his portion to his brother Levi and moved to Pem- broke where he died. The house and property was then passed to Levi’s son George P. Cass until 1917 when he also moved to Pembroke. There were several owners after 1917, including George and Alice Lombard. During the weekend of August 12, 1930, while they were away, the house was destroyed by fire and rebuilt." (photo of the home is viewable at epsomhistory.com) CHRONOLOGY of owners (not necessarily resident): 1778, Eliphalet Sanborn of Epsom purchases from John Casey of Epsom, part of Lot 71, 2nd range, the original right of James Chadwick which was purchased for taxes June 23, 1778; Levi Cass begins buying property - May 26, 1779, Levi Cass from Benjamin Goodwin, collector of taxes for Epsom, 16 acres; May 28, 1779, Levi Cass of Epsom from Eliphalet Sanborn of Epsom, part of Lot 71, the original right of James Chadwick; Dec. 16, 1779, Levi Cass of Epsom from Benjamin Goodwin, collector of taxes, the last (easterly end) of Lot #71 in the 2nd range, the orginal right of James Chadwick; 1824, Samuel Cass of Epsom from Levi Cass of Epsom, about 100 acres in Lot #71 in 2nd range, bounded easterly by road from Epsom to Allenstown, southerly by Sam Green, Jonathan Dolbeer and Nicholas Dolbeer, northerly by John Haynes, Matthias Haynes, Hanover and John Dickey, all the land I now own in said lot; Oct. 21, 1847, Levi Cass of Epsom from Samuel Cass of Epsom, for bond for care for Samuel Cass and his wife for life, my 50 acre homestead farm excepting 1/2 of my house (westside), 2 acres land, shoeshop and land between the shop and the house; Oct. 21, 1847, Samuel S. Cass of Epsom from Samuel Cass (father) of Epsom, the west end of the house where I live, 2 acres land, shoeshop and land between shop and house; Feb. 4, 1857, renewal of 1847 bonds for both Samuel S. Cass and Levi Cass; 1872, Levi Cass of Epsom from Samuel S. Cass of Epsom, 1/2 of house where I now dwell, 2 acres of land and the shoe shop with land between the shop and the house; 1884, George P. Cass of Epsom from Levi Cass and Eliza (Elizabeth) B.
