Read More	The Metropolitan Cathedral has its headquarters in the old Mother Church of Santa Fe, founded by Juan de Garay as a parish of Spaniards, under the invocation of All Saints. Moving the city to its current location, the parish church was one of the first buildings that were built in the current historic center, towards the end of the 17th century. In the middle of the 18th century it was decided to build a new building that would overcome the architectural shortcomings of the first. Between 1747 and 1751, the current Church began to rise, with three naves with cane ceilings, walls of tapia and a bell tower. The first changes date from 1832 and 1834, when the current facade was built in Italian neoclassical style, the work of the Catalan architect Juan Roque. The lower part of it is framed by four pilasters that support an entablature with metopes and triglyphs, emphasizing the three great accesses to the nartex with semicircular arches, in correspondence with the three naves of the Church. The central access, of greater dimensions, is crowned by a triangular frontis. This composition is completed with two bell towers, topped by cupulines covered with tiles of Pas de Calais. In 1897 the Church became a Cathedral, and in 1934, a Metropolitan Cathedral. From 1940, works were undertaken to adapt the church to its new rank. The ceilings of a false barrel vault in the central nave, and false vaults of edges in the lateral aisles were executed. The transept was added in 1940. The last interventions were carried out after 1982, when the anteacristia and the countersacristy were eliminated, to be converted into chapels.
