Description	:	Located on what is now airport property, this was the burial site for unclaimed black patients of the Central State Hospital. It was identified by Ben C. Nance, with the Tennessee Department of Environment & Conservation, Division of Archaeology, in 1991. This cemetery should not be confused with the main Central State Hospital Cemetery (white burials), approximately 1/2 mile to the east. Mr. Nance's report listed 137 black patients buried here from 1916 to 1932, compiled from hospital records, but many more are probably buried here from the pre-1916 and post-1932 periods.
