Description : Before Gordon County was created, what is now known as Chandler Cemetery, a plot of four acres about 1½ miles north of downtown Calhoun, was a part of the plantation of Abraham Chandler. Chandler owned six hundred acres in the area. Mr. Chandler died in 1847 and was buried, as was the custom, on his own domain—the site chosen being a magnificently wooded hill overlooking the home place.
