Description : Following divisions in the Society of Friends in the 1820s, the Orthodox Friends sect built a meeting house here in 1829, and established their own cemetery separate from the older cemetery, which was retained by the Hicksite sect. After February 1, 1926, the Hicksite Friends met at the Orthodox Friends Meetinghouse, and in the 1950s the two sects reconciled. Today, the untied Chester Friends Meeting still meets here. 456 burials from the old cemetery were removed here in November 1959 and marked with a common stone marker.
