Description	:	This is a completely unmarked approximation of where John Shaw's original 100 acre land grant was, which he transferred to his eldest son (David Shaw) and only child by his first marriage. He appeared before colonial Council 6 Jan. 1773 requesting and the parcel was granted 11 August 1774, "...in Craven County on Hope Swamp...". This would be where David set up his initial home and lived during his first marriage. He later accumulated (moved there about 1829) his nearly 2000 acre plantation at Shaw's Crossroads, Sumter County, S. C. In those old days, it was not unusual to bury... He later accumulated (moved there about 1829) his nearly 2000 acre plantation at Shaw's Crossroads, Sumter County, S. C. In those old days, it was not unusual to bury family on the home place (grave markers unaffordable). The exact site on this 100 acres is unknown, and I have never heard of any grave markers.
