Description : Also known as the Denman Island Green Cemetery This is a very new cemetery across the road from the older Denman Island Cemetery. The first newly created, exclusively green cemetery in Canada "Natural burial" means that human remains are returned to the earth in their natural state with little or no impact on the environment and with the long-term goal of restoring the native vegetation. There is no embalming and burial can be in a simple pine box, a wicker box or a shroud. There is a scattering area for ashes after a cremation. No gravestones or landscaping.
