Description	:	This small cemetery is located in South Wallingford within private property which may have been a former Doty homestead. More research is necessary to confirm if this was Doty property in the past. Approximately 50 are buried here. Many are the descendants and spouses of two Doty families that settled in South Wallingford: the family of Ormond and Phebe Vail Doty, and the family of Jerahmeel (spelling alternatives: Jerathamiel, Jerathmeel) and Sarah Look Doty. Many are the descendants and spouses of two Doty families that settled in South Wallingford: the family of Ormond and Phebe Vail Doty, and the family of Jerahmeel (spelling alternatives: Jerathamiel, Jerathmeel) and Sarah Look Doty. Ormond and Jerathmeel were third cousins, one generation removed. Ormond was a great, great (2G) grandson of Mayflower Compact signer Edward Doty through Edward's son Isaac. Jerathamiel was a great, great, great (3G) grandson of Edward Doty through Edward's son Joseph. Others buried here may not be Doty relatives, but may be Doty neighbors as some show up on 19th century federal censuses on the same Wallingford pages as the Doty's. A list of those buried here was created by Wallingford Historical Society volunteers on June 25, 1991. Another partial list was created by the Palestrello Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution in about 1941. Wallingford Historical Society records state that a list is also printed in Vermont Family and Bible Records, NSDAR 13:57-58 and on PHL film 850,113. The family that currently (2010) owns the private land containing this "off the beaten path" cemetery kindly allows the Wallingford Historical Society to occasionally clean and maintain the cemetery. The cemetery is not a typical "open to the public," municipal or parish cemetery. If Doty cousins, descendants of those buried, or Find A Grave photo volunteers wish to visit the cemetery, please contact me or the Wallingford Historical Society for the location and directions. Doty cousins and descendants of the buried are asked to make donations to the Wallingford Historical Society for the WHS's cemetery maintenance fund. No donation is too small. This writer notes that many of those buried here are young children. It is also notable that their parents are not listed as well. It is possible to suppose that life was very difficult and parents moved to find better lives. As of the date of this writing I have not completed the entries of all on record in this cemetery on Find-a-Grave. I will continue when I can to complete the data input.
