Description : Dunrennan Abbey was a Cistercian monastery built in Romanesque style, established in 1142 by Fergus of Galloway, King David I of Scotland, and monks from Rievaulx Abbey. It is extensively ruined but what remains is very hard grey sandstone. The land passed to the crown in 1587 following the Scottish Reformation.
