| Description | : | Episcopal Church of Saints Andrew and Matthew (SsAM) was originally two separate churches: Saint Andrew's Episcopal Church, a predominantly white church, and Saint Matthew's Episcopal Church, a predominantly black church. Saint Andrew's Episcopal Church was founded in 1829 at the current location of SsAM. The original church building burned down in 1840. A new building was constructed in 1846 and enlarged in 1854. Saint Matthew's Episcopal Church began as a Sunday School for African Americans in 1846.
