Description	:	From the Hawkeye Heritage journal of the Iowa Genealogical Society, July 1976 issue: William Findley purchased land in East Township, Section 14, 31 May 1853 and there is no record of when an acre of this land was set aside for a burial ground but when the land passed out of the Findley family 25 Oct 1893, the deed included the following exception: Except one acre...being used for cemetery purposes... No official records were kept, but in the early 1930s Winfield Scott Findley made a plat map showing all burials. He carried rocks from the river to mark the graves which... Iron crosses were placed to mark the graves formerly identified by the rocks.
