Per VanBuren County Genealogy Society: The Fordyce cabin was located on the stage coach route through the area. The Alexander and Fordyce families were connected by marriage. The Fordyce family apparently attempted to offer welcomed hospitality to travelers. According to stories, several of the 125+ burials at Fordyce, which show to commence about 1842, are of travelers using the stage coach. It might well be, that some burials were of persons that could not afford a gravestone. Possibly wooden markers, or just...
