Description | : | Fowlis Wester, about five miles east of Crieff, takes it's name from the Gaelic folais meaning 'small stream'. It has many historical links with the church which was first established on its present site in the early 13th century. It has retained many of its historical features including a "leper squint", a Pictish Stone and Pictish Cross which date to around 700 AD. The restored 13thC Church is dedicated to St Bean (d.720).
