As of June 1, 2012 I was 86 years old. This cemetery has never had an official name. I gave it the name of FRANCISCO-RATLIFF CEMETERY because it was started on land belonging to Bev Francisco and John Ep Ratliff, Brothers-In-Law. Bev's full name was Beverly Leonadus Clark Francisco. The first two burials were first cousins, both on August 14, 1904: Loretta Francisco (daughter of Jerry Francisco, who was a brother of Bev Francisco)and Johnnie Ratliff, son of John Ep Ratliff. Loretta Francisco was age 4 months and Johnie Ratliff was age 8 years and 4 months. Loretta and Johnie came down with a very serious intestinal disorder (called flux in those days) that caused their death. Several other children in the area died with the same thing. Jerry and Ida Belle Francisco also had a daughter, Elva Francisco; age 2 years 3 months who died on August 22, 1904 buried here. Clement V. Vanover age 1 year 5 months who died on September 12, 1904 is buried here. John Ep and Nancy Jane Wood Ratliff, Bev and Louisa Ratliff Francisco and Jerry and Ida Belle Ratliff Francisco lived on adjoining farms Bev and Jerry were brothers.. John Ep, Lousa and Ida Belle were brother and sisters. I have been on this cemetery many times with my father and many times with my grandfather and grandmother. I have also been on this cemetery many times since their deaths. I can remember seeing my grandmother Ratliff make flowers using crepe paper. I have made a complete catalog of this cemetery. There are 89 graves on this cemetery. Over the years I learned the relations of people buried here. For several years I did maintenance on the cemetery. I feel I know more about all people buried here than any one else. DIRECTIONS: From Ashcamp Post Office (Co-ordinates: N 37º 15.960', W 82º 26.019') which is located at the mouth of Ashcamp Branch on Kentucky Route 197. Go up the creek (South) approximately 1.8 miles to Tom's Branch, which is on the left. Turn left across bridge and take the first left turn and go up the hill to end of road a distance of 0.4 mile. Total distance from Ashcamp Post Office is 2.2 miles. Do not make any turns. At the top of the hill there is a road that takes a hard left. Do not take this road. It goes to another cemetery, The Bev Francisco Cemetery. A little farther on the right there is a less traveled road that goes to a gas well. Do not take this road. Co-ordinates at RATLIFF Monument in about center of cemetery are N 37º 15.736', W 82º 26.917', Elevation 1224 feet.
