Telephone: 301-373-2500 Galilee was founded right after the Civil War by a group of ex-slaves and free blacks, many of whom had formerly been members of Mt. Zion M. E. Church, Laurel Grove. In 1877, a white Methodist member of Mt. Zion, Francis Graves, donated the land for the congregation which is still in use today as a cemetery.
