Description	:	Information per the Rockleigh Borough, NJ Website First burial circa 1788 John Henry Gesner, one of the first settlers of the area, set aside a burying ground when his wife, Famicha, died. The site passed to his daughter Elizabeth and her husband, 2nd Jacob Conklin. The Gesner lands were extensive on the boarder of NJ and NY. The Burying Ground is a plot 20x30 feet located at the rear of the James Gowdy House. The first burial may have been Famicha or an infant child who died earlier. The site passed to his daughter Elizabeth and her husband, 2nd Jacob Conklin. The Gesner lands were extensive on the boarder of NJ and NY. The Burying Ground is a plot 20x30 feet located at the rear of the James Gowdy House. The first burial may have been Famicha or an infant child who died earlier. It was used until 1852 for both families. A the end of the 19th century, a Winthrop Gilman diagramed and photographed the burying ground and it was again photographed in 1912. There were 17 graves recorded by Mr. Gilman. At this time very little of the stones survive.
