Description : The Girlinghouse Family Cemetery is located off the east side of La. Hwy.8, on the southwest side of the little town of Manifest in Catahoula Parish. The property on which this cemetery is located once belonged to Joshua & Elizabeth (Jones) Croom (Joanna Girlinghouse's parents). It is suspected that Joshua may have been the first to be buried here, sometime between 1855 & 1860. The earliest marked grave is that of Girlinghouse patriarch, Christian Henry Girlinghouse, Sr., who immigrated from Germany with his parents and siblings when he was four years old in December 1837.
