| Description | : | SE Lot 18, Concession 9, Esquesing Township Greenwood Cemetery opened in 1869 when the Georgetown Village Council passed a bylaw making it unlawful to “bury any corpse within the limits of this Corporation save and except in the Greenwood Cemetery”. The by-law was enacted as other cemeteries located within the town's boundaries were becoming filled to capacity and a new burial ground was necessary. Greenwood also became the site of a number of re-interments.
