Description	:	Harataonga Bay is a coastal area on the northeast coast of Great Barrier Island in Hauraki Gulf, approx 51 nautical miles northeast of central Auckland. Ngāti Rehua Ngati Wai ki Aotea had been present in the bay before the arrival of European settlers. The area has several Māori historic sites and settler graves. In 2007, the BBC filmed the reality series Castaway 2007 in Harataonga Bay There have been four headstones found at Harataonga Bay, three large & old and a plaque set flush with the ground.
