The Hardie Horne Cemetery in Dillon County, on the South Carolina side of the road formerly known as Stateline Road, now Poplar Creek Road. Mr. Edward Currie (deceased) resided beside the cemetery. His grandmother, Abi (Horn) Currie was a first cousin of this Hardie Horn. Edward said this was the family burying ground of the family of Hardie's father, Neil Horn. Neil was a son of old Hardy and Annis (Hill) Horn. Neil died in the Civil War when his children were quite young, but his wife, Sarah "Sallie" Page (daughter of Eli Page and granddaughter of Solomon Page) is believed buried here with others of their children. Mr. Currie said he had been told there was an older Horne Cemetery in a field south of this cemetery and his house (which adjoins the Hardie Cemetery) but there had been no trace of it for his lifetime. He was told that's where the earliest Horns who settled this land were buried, that is, Old Hardy Horn and his wife, Annis Hill (grandparents of the Hardie Horn who is buried here). He was told some of old Hardy's children were buried in the older cemetery, and that his own great grandfather, Daniel Horn, son of old Hardy was buried there. Old Hardy Horn was the proven ancestor of Daniel, Neil, and Jane Horn. He is the presumed father of several others who remain unproven, including Elget Horn, Stephen Horn, my own great great grandfather, Warren Horn, and several presumed daughters, who were in Hardy's home in the 1850 census and about whom there is no further record. Nathan Horn, kinsman and likely brother of old Hardy, also moved across the state line from Robeson County, NC to the South Carolina side with his wife, Susannah, and may also be buried in one of the Horn graveyards. There are clues that strongly indicate, but do not prove, this Nathan was probably the father of Hardy Horn, Jr. (died by 1850) and of Hardy Jr.'s two full blood sisters (his only heirs) who married two sons of Solomon Page - Nancy (Horn) Page and Esther (Horn) Page who were definitely not the children of old Hardy and Annis (Hill) Horn. (Marion County Probate Roll 391). Nathan appears to have been married at least twice, and to have been father of a number of other Horn children who had different mother or mothers. Early land records, including some originals that were in the possession of Mr. Currie, show the Horn lands on the state line were part of two grants made in the late 1780s and/or 1790s to John Price and to Zadock Yelverton/Yelvington (Elvington), and that Nicholas Prince had "improvements" thereon.
