Description	:	Heard cemetery is a very old cemetery with plots dating back to 1840s. It was the scene of federal troops crossing the river during the Civil War at what was known as Isom's Ferry. There currently is a historical marker commemorating the event. This cemetery is in danger of being destroyed. The land was sold at auction for back taxes -- cemeteries aren't supposed to be taxed under Georgia state law – it has been eyed as a site for development. Some headstones are off base and propped up on trees or lying flat on ground.There are some depressions indicating graves and some rock markers.
