Description	:	In the late 1900s, Eliza Hearn and her sister, Amelia Hearn, taught school to those white children whose parents could support the small facility. Before Eliza died in 1910 at the age of 81, she offered her beloved town the plot of land on which she had lived, provided that the town would care for her final resting place. That land became the site of the public school...The gravestone (Eliza, Amelia and their father, Capt Thomas Hearn) near the Cedar Key High School has their names and the simple statement, "Lived here and supported public schools".
