Description	:	San Jose Church is the oldest Church in Puerto Rico and is considered the second oldest in the New World. Its plans were drawn in 1523, during the bishopric of the first bishop of the New World, Alonso Manso, and its master walls were being built in 1532. It was dedicated to Santo Domingo during its early period; later on was named Saint Thomas Aquinas; and from the middle 19th century has been known as Church of San Jose. The books of burials in the archives of the San Juan Catedral suggest that there may be as many as 4,000 persons buried... San Jose Church is currently, 2018, undergoing a process of restoration and conservation.
