Description	:	This cemetery was the burial grounds of the Summit County Infirmary in Portage Township (now West Akron) beginning in 1849. It is uncertain when burials ceased there, but the Infirmary itself closed in 1919 and county burials were being made in Tallmadge by 1916. After the closing of the infirmary, some burials were relocated from this location to the Tallmadge location, but many were never removed. There is no record as to who was moved and who was not. Do not confuse with the (Old) Infirmary Cemetery on Howe Rd. in Tallmadge (ca. 1916 - mid 1920s) or the New County Home Cemetery in Monroe Falls (mid 1920s - 1948).
