Description	:	There was a Jewish cemetery in Plauen as early as the Middle Ages. It is referred to in documents as the "Jewish Garden" and was probably laid out after 1350 outside the city wall in front of the Straßberger Tor. In 1543 the city's Jews were expelled. The cemetery will have been destroyed then. In 1884 a Jewish community could be established again. In 1898 she bought a piece of land from the manor owner E. In May 2000 descendants of former Plauen Jews unveiled a memorial stone for the numerous victims who were left without a grave or resting place.
