On Feb. 25, 1989, he was taken to this spot personally by Clay Hedge, a longtime resident and previous owner of the property. Clay had knowledge of where the cabin once stood, and the wooden fence where the graves lay alongside. As recently as October 2015, Mr. Gould confirmed there is no headstone that anyone is aware of, but that he was buried on his farm. As recently as October 2015, Mr. Gould confirmed there is no headstone that anyone is aware of, but that he was buried on his farm. The Noble County Genealogy Society verified the following notation pertaining to the location of Jesse and Mary (Craig) George: "The graves of he and his wife have not been located; the Will of his son Weedon, instructed his sister Mary to build a stone wall around their parents graves, which were probably located on their farm in the E1/2 of NW1/4 of Section 34, Brookfield Twp." **** Take SR78 West out of Caldwell towards McConnellsville. Drive through Sharon. Just past the Olive Green church, on the right, you will pass T-52. Next is T-1. Turn right there. There is a fork up the road, take T-2 on the right of that fork. If you come upon T-13, you have gone too far. As you can see on the map, you will come across a rusted out oil tank, just off the road. There is another tank to the right, further off of the road, but that is not the reference point you want. There is just room for a car to park. The property belongs to AEP now. It is a recreational trail and hunting is allowed, so be careful about hiking out there during deer season. The trail begins to the right of the oil tank & can be hard to follow at times...wide at times...and when I hiked it, at one point it had become totally blocked off with bramble bush. Best to go after a good freeze, to kill off more vegetation. The next time I go I would probably take a hike through one of the rows of trees (obviously planted) and see if I can find any remnants of the wooden fence south of that grove of trees.
