Between the wars the town of Jagielnica was part of Czortkow District, Tarnopol Province, Poland. After the end of World War II, the town became part of the Soviet Union, and was known as Yagielnitsa, in the Ukrainian SSR. With the dissolution of the USSR in 1991, the town became part of the independent Ukraine and is now called Yahilnytsya.
