Description	:	Cemetery is 1 mile north of Custer, MT, on the north side of the Yellowstone River. It sits on the hillside just to the west of Road 310, at the intersection with Road 311 (Pease Bottom Road). Beginning in the late 1870's, the lifespan of Junction City was brief but lively, known for its central freighting location and a rendezvous point for the area cowboys looking to "wet their whistles" at one of its numerous saloons. Beginning in the late 1870's, the lifespan of Junction City was brief but lively, known for its central freighting location and a rendezvous point for the area cowboys looking to "wet their whistles" at one of its numerous saloons. The railroad came through in 1882, on the south side of the River, and Junction City slowly faded away and nothing remains of it today, superseded by the town of Custer. The cemetery is no longer used, not maintained, and as of 2020, the only thing visible is the prominent marker for William Gidley, 1841-1896.
