Description | : | The Kayuga Cemetery is the oldest recorded cemetery in the Upper Hunter Valley, New South Wales, Australia. The cemetery was first gazetted as a burial ground in 1828 and the first recorded burial was 1831. The cemetery is believed to have been the site of the first recorded convict burial in the region. The last burial was in 1956. There are around 84 burials with twenty surviving monuments as well as rocks that are thought to be a sign of other burial plots. There is an information sign at the cemetery listing all known burials. |
