Description	:	This cemetery is located at the top of Pine Mountain in Kentucky. You can get to it on the Virginia side & the Kentucky side. Read More	This cemetery is located at the top of Pine Mountain in Kentucky. You can get to it on the Virginia side & the Kentucky side. The one I have mainly described here is going up through Mill Branch on the Kentucky side. An EKB-TV documentary was made of the eastern Kentucky & southwest Virginia line. The documentary is narrated & shown by Keen & Dosie Branham Potter's great grandson, Ronnie Hylton who takes you through the hills & to the cemetery. (Some of the info here was from that documentary & family.) Getting to the cemetery is rugged. You would probably have to led by someone who knew it. If you go to Bartlick, Dickenson Co., Va. to the Birch Knob Tower you can follow a path from there that leads to it. Birch Knob is located about 7.4 miles southwest of Elkhorn City, Kentucky. It is 6.2 miles north of Clintwood, Virginia in the Jefferson National Forest on the border between Kentucky & Virginia. On the Kentucky side, you can go from Elkhorn City keeping straight with no turn-offs up through Elkhorn Creek till you get to a left-hand turn at Glorybound Freewill Baptist Church. On the left side of the church is a hollow called Mill Branch. Take a turn there across the bridge beside the church & keep going straight with no turn-offs till you get to the main head where the last house is. There it will fork. Take the left fork. After the left fork, go till you see a gas well, then a foot path. You can see it. It will lead to the cemetery. Near the cemetery was the homeplace of William Keenis "Keen" & Josephine "Dosie" Branham Potter. The house sat almost under a cliff. There is a huge rock there you can climb up on. It is said to have had a spike or nail drove down through it by Keen for the Kentucky & Virginia line. The big rock is between the homeplace & the cemetery. Keen lived on the Kentucky side. This is where him & Dosie raised their children. There is a spring there above the old homeplace that they used. It's still there & is said to stay ice cold. It was said to have never run dry. But was stated that it did run slightly low once which was during Keen & Dosie's son Mart's funeral, where it was told 500 people came & the family fed them all. Also, from the documentary, it stated Keen use to run moonshine form 1916 to 1932. He had 2 stills. One on the Kentucky line & one on the Virginia line. When the police got after him on one line, he would just cross over to the other line. But after his son Mart got killed from falling from a mulberry tree on a little fishing trip, shortly after, Keen gave his heart to the Lord & became a well-respected citizen in his community. Later on, Keen & Dosie moved on down from the mountain into Mill Branch where they spent their last days. There are only 5 graves noted here at the cemetery. They are Keen & Dosie's grandchildren & their son Mart. Keen & Dosie are buried at the Childers Cemetery after you head back out of Mill Branch towards Elkhorn City. It is the first left hand turn right below Glorybound Freewill Baptist Church.
