Description : Laurel Hill Settlement was at the top of Laurel Hill Ridge, now part of Laurel Ridge State Park, Lower Yoder Township, Cambria County. This was originally settled by Edenborough Smith (1765-1865) and William Harshberber. Edinborough Smith was a Revolutionary War Veteran, who was a Black teamster with Gen. George Washington at the Yorktown Surrender. He has been a slave from either VA or WV. William Harshbarger, also Black, (1765-1832), from Lancaster County, PA, also settled here.
