Description	:	The Leuty Cemetery is the ancestral burial ground of the Leuty family, who were one of the pioneering families of Rhea County. When the Tennessee Valley Authority system of nine dams caused water from the Tennessee River to rise in 1941 above the Watts Bar Dam, this 19th century cemetery was left on what became a small island in a large man-made lake.
