Description	:	Liepaja is a small town on the west coast of Latvia. It was occupied by the German Army on June 29, 1941. Almost immediately the Jewish population was identified, rounded up and were systematically shot by EinsatzGruppen and SonderKommando forces. Most were taken to the beach near the port of the town, and others were taken to the city center and the town park, and were shot there. There bodies were cremated. Most were taken to the beach near the port of the town, and others were taken to the city center and the town park, and were shot there. There bodies were cremated. It is estimated there were over over 8,000 victims. The Nazis destroyed nearly all of the records and as such this list of names of victims and a few survivors was built from memories of the survivors and records in Riga. Liepaja was liberated by Soviet Forces on May 9, 1945.
