Description : Inactive cemetery, now memorialized with plaque for past burials, and is part of Memorial Park, Penn and Pitt Streets in Carlisle. The Union cemetery was established in 1905 for the African-American community of Carlisle, when the Lincoln Cemetery in Carlisle was being closed. Headstones from the Lincoln Cemetery were moved to the Union Cemetery, although the bodies were not re-interred, only the headstones moved and a memorial plaque place in 1974 in the Lincoln Cemetery with names inscribed.
