Description	:	In 1838, Thomas Lowery (1804-1856) along with wife, Elizabeth (Hensley)and children left Rockingham County, Virginia, came to Chestuee Creek, Bradley County, Tennessee and made their home. Lowery Cemetery is located on the property once owned by Thomas which was passed down to his son, William Frank Lowery, after his death. In 1882, William gave Methodist Church a portion of the Lowery property to build, which today it's known as Chestuee Church.
