Description	:	The ghost town of Manhattan, Colorado was founded in September, 1886, after gold was discovered at the nearby Elkhorn Mine. Another strike was made in 1897 in a bend of the Cache La Poudre River. In 1898, an unofficial census put the town’s population at 300.
