Description	:	Marathon Cemetery is an abandoned, African American Cemetery on private land located 0.78 miles SE of the intersection of Fisher Road and Lake Washington Road East, N 33 degrees 03.640' W 091 degrees 01.777'. Many years ago the cemetery and its wrought iron fence were almost completely destroyed by farm equipment. Most of the stones are broken beyond recognition and scattered. The cemetery is known to be a slave cemetery, and several remaining markers clearly denote individuals born before Emancipation.
