| Description | : | Located on the upper slopes of Green Mountain, Monkey Rock Cemetery was consecrated by the Bishop of St Helena when he visited Ascension Island in 1861. The cemetery was widely used as the final resting place for many of the naval hospital (aka “the SAN) patients who had scum to yellow fever. The “SAN” was later converted into the Residency, home to the Island’s Administrator. |
